Flamingles Business Meeting
Highland Hammock State Park, Sebring, FL
April 26, 2008

Sue Spahn shared the current balance sheet and reported that we received $300.00 from LTV, Inc. as start up money. There are more than 200 LTV Rvs in Florida, according to LTV in Canada. All but a few pennies of this amount were used for the (1) initial mailing to prospective members and (2) to pay for supplies for our first rally.

At this point most members have shared email addresses with Sue and Marsha.  Only a couple of people do not have email, so future mailing costs should be minimal.

All news regarding future events, exchange of information, etc. will be available at the Flamingles Yahoo Group on the internet.  Marsha and Sue will monitor this site so that only members of our group have access and can share information.  The site can be found at yahoo.com/groups

The group decided that we would not have formal memberships or dues at this point.  We will wait to see if LTV continues the tradition of providing a yearly stipend to local groups.

Flamingles will plan to meet twice a year:  January at the RV Show in Tampa and the last weekend in April, trying a different Florida State Park each year.

The plan for 2009:
  1. RV Show in Tampa: Marsha and Sue will make arrangements
  2. Collier Seminole State Park, the last weekend in April: Frank Atwell and Marsha will make arrangements.
Thank you to Sue and Marsha for launching Flamingles and organizing our first rally. It was a great time!

 Rally Activities:

Thanks to Bessie and Dave Forester we had a tent to eat our meals in.  Many hands help raise the tent and it was erected in record time.  Bessie and Dave also supplies the van as a storage area to keep the raccoons from eating our provisions.

Friday night we had an old fashion hot dog roast with lots of munchies. We gathered around the campfire talking and getting to know each other. What a wonderful diversified group this is.

Saturday we feasted on a variety of good home cooking. Everyone brought their special recipes and no one left hungry.

Saturday we all took a ranger guided tram ride through the park.  There was so much to see including swamp, pine groves, hammocks and other ecological areas.  At the end of the ride we treated ourselves to Sour Orange ice cream.

After a late continental breakfast Sunday morning we said our farewells with hope of seeing everyone again.
